On This Day: 1924 – Train Ferry Inauguration

Harwich Town rail station has been renovated to become the focal point of our Railway & Shipping Museum. The interiors now look as they would have in about 1924; the reason this year was specifically chosen is because on the 24th of April 1924, Prince George (the future Duke of Kent) inaugurated a brand new train ferry service, linking Harwich to Zeebrugge.
