We are all eagerly awaiting the arrival of the County of Essex (a Class 47 locomotive) which is on a tour organised by our friends at Charity Railtours. Waiting to greet the passengers will be several special guests including the; Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Essex, Chair of Essex County Council, Chair of Tendring District Council, Mayor of Harwich and the High Steward of Harwich.
The train is expected to arrive at Harwich Town station at 16.25 with the Museum being opened shortly after. The passengers will have time to visit the Museum and explore the town before the train departs at 18.30.
We are very grateful to the Harwich Society for arranging to open its visitor attractions to coincide with our event. These include the; High Lighthouse, Maritime Museum and the Treadwheel Crane.
The tour has been organised in aid of Macmillian Cancer Support. The County of Essex has kindly been donated by The Stratford 47 Group.
